    It could be easier if we could also type our own emoji: keyboards already have great emoji suggestions, and nonetheless we're mostly used to their categorization. Saves on feature development :)

    I would go further and say the emoticons should follow what's available on the device. The categories are not the same as we're used to, and neither the available options!
