The calendar won't know which shifts apply to which day, until there is actually a week-long event in any calendar. With a bit of generalization, the calendar might just display events with a certain category or calendar as a background color (with a mapping configured in the settings) instead of displaying them as bars. This might also help other people, that want to keep track of school vacations or similar stuff in the background color.

If the official Trello app is not sufficient, an connector providing CalDav access to the Trello API might be more universal, since multiple devices / calendar apps could be connected with it.
