Under Settings > Standards for new events/tasks allow multiple default reminder times.
I would like to be able to set more than just one default reminder time. ie: One hour before and ten minutes before. This is my default setup for events to make sure I get to them.

In the settings only one reminder can be set as standard. However, you can workaround with template with multiple reminders. Just set it as a default for new events.

For people with attention disorders, it's really useful to have multiple reminders, one at the time of the event and one a bit in advance, like hours or a day or two before, especially for events that are planned one week or more in advance. Of course we can always add reminders during the event creation, but it's far better streamlined to just remove useless reminders than add some.
Also, it would be great to be able to choose the reminder time like for the full day events. When I add a reminder a day before an event, it doesn't have to be exactly 24 hours before, it's far more intuitive and consistent to get a reminder, say, the day before at 10h am. -

You could do this via the templates..

I want to be able to set 2 default reminders. One 24 hrs prior to the event. And another 2 hrs prior to the event.

Actually, only one standard reminder is available in the settings. Google supports up to five different notifications, but it's not possible to set more than one standard reminder in the settings.
I like to have two reminders: 1 day before and 2 hours before the event. Actually, I need to add the second reminder at the creation of every new event with BC. With Google calendar, it's even possible to differentiate between all-day events and normal events...
